When it comes to arranging decoys, there are some standard do's and don'ts to follow. Here is a quick list.
Do: Make you spread visible from above, which means try to stay away from obstructions or areas with a lot of clutter.
Don't: Over estimate or under-estimate birds, in the early season birds tend to be under educated so you can get away with combination layouts but later in the season likely need to use more full-bodies.
Do: Use directional arrangments, these arragements are like lines pointing the birds into a main body of the spread. The lines direct the birds into your line of fire.
Don't: Use stationary full-bodies spreads, make sure to have motion in your spread especially mid-October to early December with educated birds.
